Joe oversees the company's tax equity investment portfolio, financial and commercial strategies and acquisitions as well as partnership and contract structuring activities.
Joe started his career at MidAmerican Energy Company in 2016 and joined BHE Renewables in 2019. Prior to his current role, Joe held a variety of progressive finance and business development positions with the most recent being vice president of finance at BHE Renewables.
Joe earned a bachelor’s in finance from the University of Iowa and a master’s degree in business administration, energy with a concentration in energy finance and certificates in business analytics and sustainability and ESG from Texas Christian University.
John joined BHE Renewables in 2024 and oversees overall planning, engineering and construction of renewable energy projects.
Prior to joining BHE Renewables, John served MidAmerican Energy Company since 2006. In his role as vice president of electric delivery, John was responsible for system planning, construction, operation, maintenance and engineering of MidAmerican Energy Company’s electric distribution, substation and transmission systems.
John earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Iowa State University, a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Northern Iowa and is a licensed professional engineer in the state of Iowa.
Christina leads BHE Renewables’ direct lithium extraction demonstration project in Imperial Valley, California – the company’s 50:50 joint venture with Occidental Petroleum to extract lithium from the brine that already flows through BHE Renewables’ geothermal power plants.
Beyond the joint venture, Christina is responsible for the overall direction and guidance of the BHE Renewables Mineral Development team’s environmental and regulatory compliance and quality performance. She is also responsible for developing and maintaining the mineral project pipeline.
Christina has over 25 years of experience in a variety of leadership roles, including supply chain, engineering, manufacturing and marketing positions. She has experience in direct lithium extraction, battery recycling, chemicals and water treatment.
Christina earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Purdue University.
Mark joined BHE Renewables in 2024, bringing a wealth of experience that aligns with the growth opportunities of the company. He spent 14 years at NV Energy – 11 years as in-house counsel and three years as director of renewable development. In this role, Mark was instrumental in negotiating power purchase agreements, acquiring assets, developing utility scale solar and battery energy storage projects and evaluating new technologies including long-duration storage. Prior to NV Energy, Mark worked at major U.S. law firms, a law firm in Mexico and in-house at Sempra Energy Solutions. He also served as vice president of development for a commercial real estate developer before returning to law practice in Las Vegas.
Mark’s career spans both legal and business roles. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law.
Eric is responsible for and oversees the development of operational strategies, policies and objectives designed to maintain and improve operations performance, efficiency and reliability for 10 geothermal plants, four natural gas-fired generating stations and one hydroelectric plant. The operations span the states of Arizona, California, Hawaii, Illinois, New York and Texas. In addition, Eric provides strategic leadership for companywide corporate security, safety, health and training programs, major incident response and business continuity initiatives.
Eric has been in the energy industry since 1996. He joined MidAmerican Energy Company in 1998, where he held a variety of leadership roles in electric operations, substation operations, gas operations and engineering.
Eric earned an associate’s degree in powerline technology at Northwest Iowa Community College.
Jean oversees all functions of human resources including organization development, talent acquisition, employee relations, learning and development and employee engagement.
Jean joined BHE Renewables in October 2023. A strategic, business-focused human resources and talent acquisition leader, she has more than 20 years of diverse human resources experience. Prior to joining BHE Renewables, she was the vice president of talent acquisition at Aramark and senior vice president of human resources at Wells Fargo.
Jean holds a bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University and a master’s degree in organization and human resources development from Iowa State University.
Bryan is responsible for the safe and efficient operations of more than 1,600 megawatts of solar and battery storage located in California, Texas, Minnesota and under development in West Virginia. Bryan leads and oversees the construction, operation and maintenance of our wind generation facilities and is accountable for their safe, reliable and efficient operations.
Bryan has been with BHE Renewables since 2023. Prior to this role, he held a variety of management positions with MidAmerican Energy Company, including senior gas integrity engineer, project director and general manager, renewable generation. Bryan has more than a decade of renewable energy experience, coming to MidAmerican Energy Company in 2017 and working in a variety of gas transmission and distribution roles before returning to renewables in 2020 to manage MidAmerican Energy Company's wind and solar fleets.
Bryan earned a bachelor’s degree in physics from Knox College, a bachelor’s in aeronautical/astronautical engineering from Purdue University and a master’s in business administration from Iowa State University.
Matt leads and oversees corporate security, facilities, technology and data, project management, customer operations, corporate reporting and other various administrative functions to ensure the company and all business functions are operating efficiently.
Matt has been with various Berkshire Hathaway Energy companies since 2000 with a variety of leadership positions in engineering, system operations, substation operations, operations support, delivery operations, finance and project management.
Matt earned a bachelor’s in electrical engineering from Iowa State University, a master’s in power systems engineering from the University of Porto, Portugal and a master’s in finance management from Drake University.
Vu brings over 25 years of diverse experience in energy marketing, regulatory affairs and risk management.
In his current role, Vu oversees the company’s participation in energy markets, develops strategies to optimize electricity sales, ensures regulatory compliance and manages risk. His team monitors market trends, forecasts prices, and executes trades to maximize revenue and align the operations of generation assets with the company’s broader objectives.
Vu holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Iowa, where he also earned a master’s in business administration.
Prior to this role, Steve served as transmission business development director for MidAmerican Energy Company. He has been with the Berkshire Hathaway Energy family of businesses since 2004 and has held roles in finance, risk management, energy trading and business development.
Steve earned bachelor’s degrees in math and economics from Northwestern University and a master’s degree in business administration from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley.
Emily works with state and federal regulators to help inform policies and legislation impacting the renewable energy industry and enable development. Emily joined Berkshire Hathaway Energy in 2021 as director of federal affairs.
Prior to joining Berkshire Hathaway Energy, Emily worked for the United States Department of Energy in several roles, including as counselor to the secretary, senior advisor to the deputy secretary and acting chief of staff in the office of public affairs.
Emily earned a bachelor’s in political science from University of Notre Dame and a juris doctor from Wake Forest University School of Law. She recently obtained her master’s in business administration from Texas Christian University in May 2025.
